Since the launch of London Fashion Week Men’s (previously London Collections: Men or ‘LCM’) menswear has made strides in the UK and the insurmountable talent captures the true heart of the country. With established designers and new comers alike, here are some of the designers that are truly revolutionary and changing the landscape of menswear globally.
JW Anderson has been a fixture of menswear in the UK for a while now and has been accredited with changing the global landscape of men’s fashion. A true revolutionary in every sense, there is a bold assertion of confidence in the clothing that not only looks good, but in a way, classifies as wearable art.
Astrid Andersen has this knack for understanding the idea of sportswear merchandizing and capitalizing on the idea of making it forward and fashionable. With a vested interest in basketball, her menswear collections have an athletic nuance which works well in juncture with high quality fabrics.
There is always this sense of whimsy and an almost sarcastic take to the menswear collections by Bobby Abley. From season to season, the use of Disney characters is ubiquitous in his collections inciting a child-like wonder, yet with complicated patterns and superior craftsmanship and design, manages to remain very mature.
There is always an underlying story in Qasimi’s creations and to understand that is to understand the clothing itself. The designer doesn’t shy away from being political and bold in his designs, and with the newest trend in fashion is the attitude of revolution, Qasimi comes out on top as one to adapt early and redefine the trend itself.
