Purificación García talks to Vesque Magazine about her namesake label, the philosophy of fashion, fast fashion and Fall/Winter trends.

  1. Starting off on a philosophical note, what does fashion mean to you and why do you think we all succumb to its allure in one way or another?

Fashion gave me ample space to manoeuver and find a place where everything is possible. Fashion takes us to be in love with creations, makes us desire something that maybe you don’t need, and this is fascinating, but also dangerous. We should be responsible.

  1. What is important about the heritage of Purificación Garcia – the label? Can you introduce yourself as a designer? What kind of clothes do you make and why?

We like our designs to be timeless, taking into consideration that the silhouettes change, that patterns are updated and new desires emerge. Our main philosophy is try to evolve with times and society maintaining our essence. I like my clothes to be for the day or for a special moment, but we always try to develop collections that make you feel good. I love the effortless and natural elegance.

  1. Fashion has almost become a sport with fierce competition, do you think that’s a good thing?

Well, this could be good if you use it to be better and fussier with your job. The basis should always be respect and sportsmanship.

No matter what you do, you have to stay awake.

  1. There is a clear juxtaposition of casual, yet luxurious about the clothes. Is this something you envisioned? Where did this idea come from?

I think that both are complementary, and nowadays this duality is present in the creations of a lot of designers, and I try also to be involved in this idea. But this is something spontaneous, not calculated and was born as a result of an ever-changing society.

  1. Any particular menswear trend you think is a must-sport for this season?

The key of the concepts in the men´s wardrobe this season is the unsuspected mixtures: corduroy garments with nylon appliques or hybrid garments such as overshirts and quilted shirts. The richness of textures is another of the strong points of the collection: herringbone, Oxford, prints and the mélange effect are mixed from tailoring to knitwear.

  1. Could you list 2 style tips for our readers?

Have a perfect tailoring navy jacket in your wardrobe that you can use both with jeans and with a classic trouser, and invest in quality garments.
